We are delighted to invite you to the 21st GIS Research UK (GISRUK) conference. In 2013 this is being hosted by the Department of Geography and Planning in School of Environmental Sciences at the University of Liverpool from Wednesday 3rd through to Friday 5th April. As with previous years, we will have a day of workshops on the 2nd April, including the Young Researcher's Forum. The conference will follow the usual format of plenary sessions from invited keynote speakers, and oral presentation of papers in a series of parallel themed sessions. A full social programme will also feature during the conference.
Follow @GISRUK2013Established in 1993, the GISRUK conference series is the UK's national GIS research conference and is primarily aimed at the academic community. Each annual conference attracts delegates from all parts of the world from disciplines including geography, computer science, planning, archaeology, geology, geomatics and engineering. The GISRUK conferences aim to act as a focus for GIS research in the UK and provide a mechanism for the announcement and publication of GIS research. They also provide a forum for the discussion of research ideas, promote collaboration amongst researchers from diverse disciplines and offer postgraduate students the opportunity to showcase their work in an international context. So if you supervise research by PhD students or researchers please persuade them to contribute; if you are a postgraduate in a field relating to GIS you are most welcome to present at GISRUK 2013.
GISRUK is a friendly conference series that aims to encourage and support early careers researchers. With the kind support from both the Quantitative Methods Research Group and the GIScience Research Group at the Royal Geographical Society with the IBG we are able to offer 4 early careers bursaries.
Furthermore, we will be running our Young Researcher's Forum on the day before the main conference which provides valuable early careers guidance, and the opportunity to network with your peers.
GISRUK would not be possible without the kind support of our sponsors...
